October was a busy month for our newsroom.
On October 17th, communities across Northeast B.C. went to the polls for the municipal election. A week later, voters headed back to the polls for the provincial election.
Our team at Moose Media and Energeticcity.ca worked to keep people informed through both campaigns, from information about candidates and advance voting to results on election night.
I’m proud of the work our team put into this coverage, and I want to thank everyone who followed along.
Following the municipal election across Northeast B.C.
Our election forum tool let residents choose their community, pick a topic, or search a keyword, then jump straight to that part of a local forum.
Results were grouped by candidate, so readers could compare what different candidates said about the same issue and watch their answers in the original video. They could also watch the full forum.
From September 1 to November 4, the tool recorded 469 video requests and 260 filter uses.
We covered the municipal election in communities across Northeast B.C., and on election night, readers turned to Energeticcity.ca for the results.
Our municipal election live blog received 13,836 views. Our Fort St. John results story received 1,867 views, while the Dawson Creek results story received 1,511 views.
Our municipal election videos were also watched more than 104,000 times across Facebook, TikTok and YouTube.
