We are incredibly proud to announce that for the second consecutive year, our podcast Before the Peace has been named the Best Podcast (Small Market) in Canada at the Broadcast Dialogue Canadian Radio Awards!
Winning this national recognition in 2024 was a huge honour, but defending the title in 2025 proves that the stories we are telling in the Peace Region are resonating far beyond our borders.
The Broadcast Dialogue Canadian Radio Awards recognize excellence in broadcasting across the country. To bring home the “Best Podcast” award two years in a row is a testament to the power of local storytelling and the importance of the conversations happening right here in Fort St. John.
If you haven’t tuned in yet, Before the Peace is dedicated to exploring the history and future of the Peace Region through an Indigenous, Métis, and Inuit lens.
Hosted by Moose FM’s Program Director Chris Walker, the show features personal, powerful conversations that dive deep into the triumphs and trials of our community. From revitalizing Indigenous languages and celebrating local leaders like Miss Indigenous Canada contestant Taylor Behn-Tsakoza, to tackling difficult but necessary topics like Red Dress Day and the residential school system, the podcast is a platform for voices that deserve to be heard.
This award belongs to the guests who have been brave enough to share their stories, their culture, and their truth with us.
We also want to send a huge thank you to our sponsors, Troyer Ventures and the Fort St. John Co-op. Your support allows us to keep producing high-quality content that educates, informs, and connects our community.
You can catch up on all our award-winning episodes, including recent conversations on supporting Indigenous students and the “Reawakening Our Language” initiative.
