There is a new burst of colour in downtown Fort St. John, right on our building.
Moose Media, the parent company of 100.1 Moose FM and Energeticcity.ca, is proud to be part of one of the city’s newest public art projects. The mural on the side of our office at 9924 101 Avenue is part of a community initiative led by the City of Fort St. John to showcase local art and creativity in public spaces.
Created through a partnership between Moose Media, the city’s artist-in-residence, Francine Freeman, and artists Simone Olanski and Sophie Zaldy, the mural captures the spirit of music, energy, and connection. It features vinyl records, musical instruments, and people dancing, celebrating the creative rhythm that brings our community together on the airwaves and in everyday life.
The project was developed as a mentorship-based initiative that gave local artists hands-on experience and prepared them for future public art opportunities. We are honoured that our building could serve as the canvas for such an inspiring collaboration. Thank you to our friends at Braun’s Flooring for helping provide the paint for this amazing project.
This mural is one of four new public art installations the city recently unveiled, all designed to bring more creativity and colour to shared spaces across Fort St. John. Other projects include small murals on portable barricades downtown, artist-designed bike racks, and wrapped utility boxes to help deter graffiti.
Mayor Lilia Hansen said these projects “reflect Fort St. John’s commitment to fostering creativity, enhancing public spaces, and supporting local artists.”
We invite everyone to stop by 9924 101 Avenue to see the mural in person and to explore all the new art installations around the city.
