About the Role
Moose Media is looking for an energetic, creative, and community-minded Afternoon Announcer & Social Media Coordinator to join the Moose FM team.
This is a unique opportunity for someone who loves connecting with people both on-air and online. You’ll host Moose FM’s weekday afternoon show, create engaging local content, interact with listeners, and help grow Moose FM’s digital presence through social media and promotions.
The ideal candidate is a confident communicator with a great sense of humour, strong storytelling abilities, and a passion for local communities. You’ll work closely with our programming, promotions, and news teams to create compelling content that entertains, informs, and engages our audience across multiple platforms.
In addition to hosting the afternoon show, this position will serve as the primary fill-in announcer for the Moose FM Morning Show during scheduled vacations, leaves, and other absences.
Key Responsibilities
- Host Moose FM’s weekday afternoon show.
- Fill in on the Morning Show as required during vacations, sick days, and other staff absences.
- Attend remote broadcasts when requested (including evenings and weekends)
- Prepare and deliver engaging on-air content, including local news, weather, community information, interviews, contests, and music features.
- Maintain a consistent, entertaining, and professional on-air presence that reflects Moose FM’s brand.
- Create, schedule, and publish engaging content across Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, and other digital platforms.
- Assist with station promotions, contests, events, and marketing initiatives.
- Produce graphics, photos, short-form videos, and written content to support station programming, promotions, and events.
- Collaborate with announcers and staff to develop creative social media campaigns and promotional content.
- Monitor social media performance and recommend strategies to increase audience engagement and growth.
- Attend community events, remote broadcasts, and station promotions as required.
- Maintain a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
What We’re Looking For
- Previous on-air radio, broadcasting, podcasting, or comparable media experience is considered an asset.
- Strong verbal communication and storytelling skills.
- Excellent writing skills with the ability to adapt content for both broadcast and digital audiences.
- Experience managing social media platforms, including Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok.
- Basic experience creating graphics and editing photo/video content.
- Comfortable performing live on-air while managing multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Highly organized with strong time-management skills.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and the confidence to adapt quickly in a live broadcast environment.
- Self-motivated, creative, and eager to contribute new ideas.
- Passion for local news, community events, music, and audience engagement.
- Proficient with computers, Gmail, and Google Workspace.
